Fire Dance

Fire dancing is a part of many ancient cultures across the world. From the Samoans to the Aztecs, fire manipulation has always centered on the core essence of the dance and the rhythmic dialogue between fire and music. Marina is an expert fire dancer, with a distinct talent in fusing the technical aspects of fire manipulation with the intricacies of the music.

Using her professional expertise and training as a dancer and choreographer, Marina breathes life into her captivating fire performances, adding unique sparks to every show with fire poi, hula-hoop, staff, double staff, snakes, fans, fingers, or even fire sword. With a performance repertoire ranging from tribal to contemporary, Marina is always ready to light up any stage, from crowds of 120,000 people at 2011’s Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas with Zen Arts, to intimate gatherings like special corporate events, weddings or parties. She has also delighted audiences with blacklight LED performances in venues where fire performance is not possible.

Marina began manipulating fire at the beginning of the last decade in California with a private 2 year mentorship with Keith Srikanta Barefoot, until he joined Cirque du Soleil in 2007 as the lead fire dancer and fire coach for the international Zaia production. Marina debuted in 2006 at Burning Man in the Great Circle with over 200 fire dancers as a member of The Pyronauts. Soon after, she joined Nocturnal Sunshine, a Santa Cruz based fire troupe, for their Australian tour. After she continued to perform with Nocturnal Sunshine and The Pyronauts, and as a solo artist, making appearances with The String Cheese Incident and Cirque de Soleil special events. Marina is committed to top levels of performance and teaching in fire or LED dance, most recently placing in the top 5 performers at Montreal’s 2011 fire performance competition, and 1st place in 2014.
